Hillsboro is part of the Metro Portland real estate market and has a proven track record of growth and expansion since the late 1800′s.
The City of Hillsboro is currently the 5th largest city in the State of Oregon. Growth during the late 1990′s and into the first decade of the new century has helped create overall stability and sustainability to the City of Hillsboro as well as the local economic areas. [Hillsboro Economic Development Council Report]
With the Silicone Forest centered in the heart of Hillsboro, and Intel being the heart of the Silicon Forest, Hillsboro is a great place to live and work.
”Best described as an uptown hometown, Hillsboro is a well planned growing community with a strong, diverse economic base. We are the high tech corridor for the state while, at the same time, farming and timber are important parts of our economy. Hillsboro is a safe and affordable community and a place that we are proud to call home.” ~~ The City of Hilllsboro
The growth of Hillsboro’s Silicon Forest has planted many global employers such as Nike, Intel, Tektronix and IBM — to name a few – into the Hillsboro landscape. This offers residents of Hillsboro the convenience of their commute to those working in these industries. Business parks and high-tech campuses are interspersed throughout many desirable Hillsboro neighborhoods and finding the right home shouldn’t be a problem.

Calling Hillsboro Home
The City of Hillsboro has had some major renovations in the past few years, focusing on the Orenco Station area in particular. Orenco Station has a great shopping center at the heart giving this a very local, community feel. Brownstone townhomes make this an extremely attractive area. An active Saturday Market offers shoppers fresh produce from local family farms that have been in the area for many years. Fruits of the season, and fresh greens are a main staple of the Saturday Market fare.
The added feature of having the MAX – Metro Portland’s light rail train system — with many stops along the way, offering commuters a quick ride into work is another great advantage. Hillsboro is about one hour’s drive away for the Oregon Coast (heading due west), and heading east, how about skiing year-round at world renowned Mt. Hood.
“Orenco Station has been closely studied nationally and internationally as a case study of transit-oriented and New Urbanist development in a suburban context. Bruce Podobnik, a sociologist at Lewis and Clark College, completed a study in 2002 that showed comparatively high levels of resident satisfaction and “social capital“, or interaction between neighbors. Transit use was also relatively high in the study—22% for commuting, versus about 6% in the region overall.”
Work or play the City of Hillsboro is a good place to call home!
